Chicken'n'watermelon

Supper time again, and it's chicken and watermelon! I worked at Blue Restaurant in LBI this summer and my chef, Steven Cameron, had a pretty cool and interesting dish on the menu that I never got to try let alone know how it was made, not sure how I went the whole summer not knowing but it happened. Anyway I wanted experiment and try something like it. So, the dish in the photo is what I made for dinner tonight and it is as follows: Pan seared chicken breast in an asian watermelon sauce with raisins and watermelon slices, scallions on top for some color. I cooked the raisins in the sauce which turned out pretty well. All in all it was pretty good and definitely interesting. give it a whirl if you've got the time.

Also Steven Cameron and Todd Rogers are opening Noble American Cookery in Philadelphia in the coming weeks so definitely check it out, it will surely be amazing food. www.noblecookery.com

The "Green Fairy" in the near future...

Ok so... I went on a skateboarding trip with a bunch of buddies to Paris, France this past summer, and I guess every typical young American that travels to Europe has the absinthe quest. Well, we were no different and while I was there, my friends and I did get a bottle and try it, but it was not full strength absinthe, and nothing that was speculated to happen did. We didn't freak out or cut our ears off like Pablo Picasso, but we also didn't drink it the traditional way. I did manage to go out and find a traditional bottle of absinthe and bring it back to the states. Here is a photo of the bottle at 68% alcohol by volume that my roomies and myself and I guess whoever else is around plan on consuming in the near future. So I guess this is just a little preview of a future post on this thing. Hopefully I will get out a little more and have some better stuff to write about like great or horrible restaurants around Philly or anything else I think of but for now this is all I got and hopefully when we do get around to it, I am still all ears.

First real post!

So I guess this is my first real post and it's dinner! My roomie Steve, girlfriend Laurie (also roomie) and myself do a decent amount of cooking at our apartment here in Philly so I figured it could be a cool place to start by posting some stuff we make. On tonight's menu is pizza, individual artichoke heart margherita pizzas to be precise... have a look. Oh yeah some delicious ice cold Tecate to go along with it (the better corona in a can). Too bad Steve wasn't here to enjoy 'em

New to the blogging thing...

Hi everyone, My name is Bill and rather new to the blog thing. I figured I would give it a whirl. Things to expect that I will be talking about would be, food/restaurants/culinary school, beer (I'm a beer nerd) and maybe some random skateboarding stuff since food and skateboarding are kind of my things. hope to have some new content soon.
